Does a BFP after the time limit count?

I think I have a BFP, but the line showed up after the time limit - does that count?

Don't celebrate quite yet -- but sometimes very early BFPs show up faintly after the time limit. But it could also be an evap line. Test again tomorrow and see if you have a clearer line. If not, it was probably just an evap. Click here for more info on evaps.

First Response Rapid Response

I purchased First Response Rapid Response. Is it a sensitive test?

Although the packaging looks very similar to First Response Early Response, First Response Rapid Response is actually not an early test. It's main selling point is that the results will appear in the test window in just seconds. But what is the point of saving just a minute or two of staring at a test window when you can save several days and get to test early? I don't get it. In any case, First Response Rapid Response tests are designed to be used the day you miss your period (15 DPO).

Does a Short LP Mean I Can Test Earlier?

The test says I can test 5 days before my missed period. I have a 12 day luteal phase and get my period at 13 DPO. Does this mean I can start testing at 8 DPO?

You can start testing anytime you want as far as the Queen is concerned. BUT, it isn't typical to see results before 10 DPO. In fact, most don't see results until 12 DPO. The lenght of your LP has nothing to do with when the peestick tests will be able to pick up a pregnancy. Regardless of your LP, your body needs time to build up enough hcG to trigger a postive test. When a test says it can detect a pregnancy 5 days before a missed period, it is assuming a "typical" cycle with a 14 day LP and AF showing up at 15 DPO. This would make 10 DPO the first 'reasonable' test date for those tests.

Tests Getting Lighter

I've been testing every day, and I had a good line at 10 DPO, and at 11 DPO... but today, at 12 DPO, my line seems lighter. Does that mean I am losing this pregnancy?

While it is possible that a lighter line indicates a drop in hcG (and possible early miscarriage) it could also be two other likely variables:

* The dye varies from lot to lot, and test to test. It is possible you just happened to test with a peekstick that had less dye in it.

* Your urine could have been less concentrated, making the hcG levels less concentrated.

Comparing tests, while a common practice of many citizens of Peestick Paradise, can be frustrating and misleading. As long as you are getting a line, you should consider yourself pregnant and call your doctor.

hcG Shot and Peestick Testing

My doctor gave me an hcG shot. Are my peestick results still valid?

Depending upon the amount of hcG in the shot, you may be advised that you need to wait until 14 DPO before you can test. You doctor will instruct you on when to test, but he or she is unlikely to be a peestickaholic like many of us here in Peestick Paradise.

Some women start testing with IC's from the day of their hcG shot until the end of their cycle. This allows them to see the line get fainter, and so they know the hcG from the shot is leaving their system. If the line then starts to get darker towards the end of the two week wait, they can be more confident that it is a real BFP and not just the leftover hcG from their shot.
